The management program to help improve behavior includes de-escalation techniques such as prevention strategies for physical confrontation and tips for crisis prevention.

Proper Hygiene and Self-Help Skills

A simple habit of washing hands goes a long way towards preventing diseases. Maranatha Day Program will motivate this vital routine promoting behavioral change through information and education. Furthermore, our team is committed in encouraging tooth brushing after lunchtime. Self-help is key to improving mood and lessening anxiety. MDP seeks to identify achievable goals for each individual, using motivation, offering stress relief activities that can calm mind and body, such as dancing, singing, painting, and relaxation tools (breathing, and walking).

Artistic Skills Development

We encourage handwriting,  painting and music. These activities are an extension of ourselves. Also music promotes good mood, make us excited,  calm or relaxed. Maranatha Day Program intents to explore:

Gardening

Gardening for every human being is a wonderful way to keep contact with nature and provides calmness and a sense of accomplishment. MDP offers for clients the basics of gardening:

  • The right time to start planting;
  • Types of soil;
  • Growing vegetables and flowers.

Promoting Physical and Emotional Wellness

Maranatha Day Program helps clients maintain a healthy life that allows them to get most of their daily activity, minimizing fatigue or physical stress. YOGA EXERCISES ARE PART OF OUR ROTINE. Furthermore, MDP promotes:

  • Walking;
  • Indoor basketball;
  • Low impact aerobic activities;
  • Coordination activities (motor skills);
  • Relaxation techniques;
  • Suggestion of proper nutrition.

Learning Skills Development

Maranatha Day Program offers classes using assistive technology to improve learning skills in:

  • Math – numbers, comparison, time, money, geometry, four operations, fractions;
  • English – vocabulary, alphabet, how to spell, read and write, grammar;
  • Fine Motor Skills – tracing, dot-to-dot, and coloring;
  • Science & Humanities – How Community Services work, How Things are made, Commemorative Dates, Basic Science concepts, Location, 5 Natural Elements, Flags, and Pledge of Allegiance.

Community Integration and Recreational Skills

Maranatha Day Program seeks to improve the social and recreational engagement of our clients. 
They are challenged in our inclusive enviornment according to their respective abilities.
MDP developed a program to guide clients to emphasize the importance of social connections. 
MDP also provides community-based activities which provide opportunities for interaction with non-disabled individuals.
